July’s broker of the month is Daniel Howarth, Co-Head of Enness International. Fluent in French and Spanish, Daniel prides himself on his comprehensive technical understanding of international finance. This month, Daniel will be speaking at The Wealth Forums, discussing how clients with complex income structures can secure mortgages internationally. Places are still available – RSPV by 4th July.
How did you get into mortgage broking?
I was always keen to work in an industry where I could utilise my language skills, and had a keen interest in property, so broking international mortgages was an ideal fit for me. Before joining Enness, I spent three years at an international mortgage brokerage, organising ultra high net worth loans for non-doms in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. This was a really solid grounding in the mortgage world.
Your language proficiency makes you a real asset to Enness International- how did you develop your skills?
I studied languages at University, but really became fluent by living abroad. I lived in Calais teaching English to underprivileged children, and spent time working on a dairy farm in Normandy! I also spent a year living in Lanzarote working as a scuba-diving instructor.
You’ve recently been promoted to Co-Head of Enness International – what makes you a successful broker?
Many of my international clients have very complex backgrounds and income streams. I have a comprehensive technical understanding of my field, which allows me to understand their situations quickly and formulate a plan for them. Having lived in France and Lanzarote also gives me a real understanding of my clients’ lives and situations.
If you weren’t broking mortgages, what would you be doing?
I love to travel in pursuit of new scuba diving locations; as a qualified PADI instructor, I’m always keen to find new and exciting spots to explore. As is probably apparent, I’m a passionate linguist, so teaching languages would always be an option.
